Uranus is currently anaretic (29°) in Taurus, preparing for its transit into Gemini July 7th.
Understanding the Anaretic Degree
The Degree Theory in astrology was implemented by Nikola Stojanović. A birth chart is represented in a 360-degree wheel based on the ecliptic. This chart, or wheel, is then divided into 12 segments each at 30 degrees. These 30 degrees per sign are further divided into three decans of 10 degrees each. Something you've seen me delve deeper into over the last few months.
Stojanović attributed the degrees according to the way each sign is positioned in the calendar. Aries 1°, Taurus 2°, Gemini 3°, and so on. After Pisces 12°, it starts over again: Aries 13°, Taurus 14°, Gemini 15°, etc. The 0° is considered the Ingress and is attributed to the sign (or cusp). For example, if your Moon is at 0° Aries (as yours is), it’s an Aries degree, if the house cusp is at 0° Leo (as your Ceres is), it’s a Leo degree.
This is why understanding the degree of planets and signs at the time of your birth is crucial. Even a small increment of time can alter the positioning of planets or your ascendant. Two individuals born on the same day can have different zodiac signs based on the degree placement of their planets.
Each degree in a chart carries significance, attributing meaning to these placements. Certain degrees, known as "critical degrees," bear more weight in astrological interpretations. These are specific points on the zodiac wheel believed to bring heightened challenges and opportunities. These degrees can amplify both the positive and negative traits of a sign; therefore, understanding them can offer valuable insights into navigating your life-path more effectively.
The anaretic degree is defined as the point at which a planet reaches 29 degrees within a sign, representing the final position of that sign before the planet transitions into the subsequent sign. Signifying karmic completion, those who possess this degree in a planet typically exhibit characteristics of being "old souls." The karmic conclusion of the cycle is also known as the "degree of faith."
In this lifetime, within this specific area, house and sign, you have traveled as far as you can, and have entered a liminal state of being, awaiting the next season of evolution. While this may appear as "giving up" and just waiting, nothing could be further from the truth because this degree is actually one of mastery.
If you have any anaretic planets in your birth chart, know that you are equipped with all the necessary tools to fulfill your highest purpose and overcome challenges associated with your resolve being tested—and there will be many. After all, we can't step into the next chapter without completing this one.
Understanding Uranus
Uranus was discovered in 1781 by British astronomer William Herschel. Its name is a derivation of the letter "H" after Herschel. It's neutral, androgynous, and considered by many astrologers to be the upper octave of Mercury. It's the first of the transcendental planets and rules Aquarius (imagination) and the 11th House (social conscious/group relationships).
Due to its history, Uranus represents the freedom urge ("divine discontent"), and its keyword is the awakener. It's been traveling through Taurus, the sign of its fall (in the planet opposite its exaltation), and has had difficulty expressing its true nature. This can be compared to staying at someone's house that you do not feel comfortable in.
This can be judged as accurate through the current political climate in the U.S., with screams of freedom spiraling under the chaos of rising fascism. That's just it, there are many screams but a lack of action. That's going to change in July when Uranus leaves its Taurian fall for Gemini, where it will be able to express itself fully.
It takes Uranus 84 years to cycle through the zodiac, spending roughly seven years in each sign. In July it will transit into Gemini for the first time since 1941. It remained there until1949 and marked World War II and its aftermath.
Before that, Gemini entered Taurus in April 1859 thru 1871 and marked the American Civil War (1861-1865): This war reshaped the nation through a period of social and political upheaval.
The American Revolution lasted between 1775-1783, marking the birth of the nation, coinciding with Uranus’ transit through Gemini (1767-1779). This period doesn’t exactly match a Uranus return in Gemini, but it’s significant to when the United States was founded in 1776, with Uranus in Gemini.
Events during the American Revolution while Uranus was transiting Gemini:
• The Townshend Acts are passed (1767)
• The Boston Massacre (1770)
• Parliament passes the Tea Act & The Boston Tea Party (1773)
• Boston Port Bill, Quartering Act, First Continental Congress (1774)
• Patrick Henry's speech: "Give me Liberty or Give me Death" became the rallying cry of the American Revolution (1775)
• Paul Revere's famous ride: “One if by land, and two if by sea.” (1775)
• Battles of Lexington and Concord (1775)
• Second Continental Congress (1775)
• Capture of Fort Ticonderoga, Washington takes control of the army, Battle of Bunker Hill, Olive Branch Petition, Declaration of the Causes and Necessity of Taking Up Arms (1775)
• Thomas Paine's Publication of Common Sense, British troops evacuated from Boston, North Carolina’s Halifax Resolves, Commonwealth of Virginia’s Declaration of Rights, Declaration of Independence issued (1776)
More events occurred when Uranus was transiting Gemini, such as the Battle of Long Island, Washington crossing the Delaware, Battles of Trenton and Princeton, and General Burgoyne surrenders, 1776-1779, leading up to the ending of the war in 1783, after Uranus had transited into Cancer, representing nurturing, home, family, unity, roots, and history.
I am certain that you can see how astrology, studied for thousands of years, can accurately attribute definitions to the discovery of planets and the repetition of patterns they exhibit throughout centuries.
What can we expect when Uranus enters Gemini?
We're already seeing the preamble of events born of the freedom urge and "divine discontent". It actually began with the insurrection of the capitol building during the certification of votes for President Biden. The tension has been building since and is coming to a head with this "Big [Bullshit] Bill" before congress.
I intuitively discern a major event happening this summer and toward the end of the year/beginning of 2026.
I've only dipped my toes into Mundane Astrology, a branch of astrology that focuses on the study of global events, nations, and political developments; therefore, I am certainly not qualified to say anything beyond my intuition. However, I do know several astrologers who are masters of mundane astrology I will be sharing so you can witness the truth of astrology.
I'm certainly not an alarmist; however, having a back-up plan and additional supplies is recommended regardless of a planetary transit. Emergencies happen daily across our planet, and being prepared is wise.
